Review: Maybelline Color Sensationals lipstick in Nude Lust

I was super excited when I found out about Maybelline's "The Buffs" collection - 8 new nude lipsticks. I have a hard time finding nude lipsticks that work for me so I knew that there had to be one in here for me. I was becoming disheartened because every time I found a display in the drugstore, it had already been picked over, but I finally found a (pretty) full display the other day! I wanted a MLBB shade and that's what I found in Nude Lust.

The formula on this is smooth and creamy. It applies easily and has a finish between satin and glossy - a sort of semi-gloss. There is no shimmer in this one (or any of the Buffs, I believe). Obviously, lipstick over chapped lips is never a cute look but it didn't accentuate some slight dryness I had. It was pretty moisturizing, but didn't last too long. It started to fade after a couple of hours and I needed a touch up by 3 hours. I know for some people this is a deal breaker, but it's not a huge deal to me. This is the kind of product I can "slap-on" without needing too much precision or necessarily needing a mirror because of its formula/color. It also fades without the gross chola lip-liner look.

One swipe on the right, 3 swipes on the left.

It's pretty pigmented even with just one swipe, but still lets your natural lip color shine through. It can definitely be built up to full opacity if you want to cancel out most of your lips' color. The mid-tone nude shade mixes with my natural shade to create a perfect MLBB color.

It looks pretty pink-toned here because my lips are naturally pretty pigmented.

But as you can see it does lean more nude. If built up, the color looks too much like concealer lips, so I'd opt for a gloss. I think I'm gonna go back for 935 (I don't remember the name, but I know that was he shade number) for a more opaque nude shade. Have you tried any of the new Maybelline nude lipsticks? If so, what are your favorite picks?

Thanks for reading! xo
